Northern Ireland Sailing team member Bobby Driscoll won the ILCA 6 class at the Open Bahía de Altea – Dictum Abogados Trophy at Club Náutico de Altea in Spain.
The regatta, which was hosted on 25 and 26 January, featured 80 boats across the ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and 420 classes tested sailors due to the variable winds between 5 and 14 knots across the two days.
Bobby, who hails from Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club and Ballyholme Yacht Club, showed his ability to deal with these challenges and scored 12, 9, 1, 1.

Events like this are a crucial part of training for Northern Ireland Sailing Team sailors, as with most competitions happening in the summer, this gives the opportunity to remain sharp and gain experience against an international field.
It comes off the back of training with other Northern Irish Sailing Team sailors in Valencia and Bobby can be pleased with his performance as he placed ahead of fellow Irish sailors Connor Cronin (5th), Lucy Ives (12th) and Marcus Shelly (13th).
We wish Bobby the best of luck as he aims to kick on from this performance.
