Emily and Annabel have been hugely successful in their sailing endeavours over the last 12 months and were recognised as Female Junior Sailors of The Year at the RYA Northern Ireland Annual Awards which were hosted on the 25th of April in The Harbour Commissioners Office in Belfast. On top of this, they also won U18 Team of The Year at the Ards and North Down Sports Awards.
Speaking at the RYA Northern Ireland Annual Awards, Annabel said: “We feel very proud because we’ve worked very hard this year.
Emily added: “We’ve trained really hard but we’ve also had a good time because it’s fun to be sailing together. I really enjoy sailing with Annabel because we know each other better and it’s easier to communicate.
“We were really shocked to win Ards and North Down U18 Team of the Year because we were up against nominations from all of the different sports so it was surprising but we were happy.
The girls have a busy summer ahead as they will travel to the World Championships in France and they will aim to defend their Feva Irish National title. On top of this, they will aim to transition into the 29er class and kick on from all of their success so far in their sailing journeys.
